Mr Tan is the Deputy Chairman of SAM and has been a member of the Board since March 2010.
He also is the President & CEO of Accuron Technologies Limited (the parent company of SAM), Chairman of SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Berhad, Chairman of the Singapore Red Cross Council, Chairman of the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Board.
Prior to this, Mr Tan was the Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore, a government agency overseeing Singapore’s efforts in enterprise development, entrepreneurship, innovation, quality and standards. Before that, he was a career naval officer in the Republic of Singapore Navy where he last held the appointment of Chief of Staff – Naval Staff.
Over the years, Mr Tan has also served on the boards of various companies and not-for-profit organisations.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Masters of Science in Management from Stanford University, USA. He was awarded the President’s Scholarship and SAF Overseas Scholarship in 1985 and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Military) in 2007.
