Mr Tan is the Deputy Chairman of SAM and has been a member of the Board since March 2010.
He also is the President & CEO of Accuron Technologies Limited (the parent company of SAM), Chairman of SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Berhad, Chairman of the Singapore Red Cross Council, Chairman of the Singapore Accreditation Council and Chairman of the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Board.
Prior to this, Mr Tan was the Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore, a government agency overseeing Singapore’s efforts in enterprise development, entrepreneurship, innovation, quality and standards. Before that, he was a career naval officer in the Republic of Singapore Navy where he last held the appointment of Chief of Staff – Naval Staff.
Over the years, Mr Tan has also served on the boards of various companies and not-for-profit organisations.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Masters of Science in Management from Stanford University, USA. He was awarded the President’s Scholarship and SAF Overseas Scholarship in 1985 and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Military) in 2007.
